Herb Robert (Geranium Robertianum)

Family - Geraniaceae (Geranium Family)
Common Names - Herb Robert, Red Robin, Stinky Bob, Fox Geranium
Habitat - Shaded Woodland, Field edges, Around Rocks & Walls

Possible Confusion - Hedgerow Cranesbill (Geranium Pyrenaicum)
Distribution - Native To Europe, Parts Of Asia, North America & North Africa.

Identification 
Herb robert grows up to around 50cm in height. Its flowers are small, bright pink & star-shaped with 5 petals.
Its leaves are small, dark green, deeply lobed & turn red the more their exposed to sunlight. The stems are often a
reddish colour with noticeable hairs. Herb robert releases a strong smell when you crush the leaves, this smell is 
amazingly similar to the smell of burning tires. This is why its known as stinky bob.
Nutritional Value
The nutritional profile of herb robert is relatively unknown, but the plant has been found to be rich in carbohydrates,
proteins, antioxidants, essential oils & a special compound called geraniin.
Culinary Uses
Herb robert's leaves & flowers have a very unique flavour which some people love & others hate. If you enjoy its 
unique flavour herb robert makes a nice herbal tea or an interesting addition to salads & soups.
